- Replacement Guidelines:1.Attach one end of a spark tester to the ignition cable and ground the other to the cylinder head. Spin the flywheel rapidly (at least 350 RPM) and check for a spark in the tester window. If there’s no spark, replace the coil. 2.Disconnect the spark plug wire and remove all batteries. Take off the flywheel cover and engine housing. Unfasten the old ignition coil screws, disconnect the stop switch wire from the flywheel, and then remove the coil.
